England's Paul Casey burst onto the professional scene in 2000 following an extremely successful amateur career that culminated in a record individual performance at the 1999 Walker Cup in Nairn, Scotland. Casey who had already picked up numerous individual and team honours either side of the Atlantic, won a maximum of 4 points in the bi-annual match between the top amateurs from Great Britain & Ireland and the United States.

During his first full year on Tour, the big hitting Englishmen claimed a maiden Tour victory at the Gleneagles Scottish PGA on his way to finishing 22nd in the order of Merit. That performance saw Casey pick up the Sir Henry Cotton Trophy, awarded to the top ranked rookie.

Nicknamed ‘Popeye’ due to the sheer size of his forearms, Paul Casey has continued to progress up the world rankings and has notched up 8 European Tour victories in 8 years on Tour.

Casey has continued on his fantastic record in Team events, as member of the last 3 Ryder Cup sides, notably, the successful 2004 and 2006 teams as well as 3 victories in the Seve Trophy. Casey claimed yet another team title in 2004 when he paired up with Luke Donald to win the World Cup of Golf.

2006 was an extremely successful season for Paul as he claimed 3 individual victories on the European Tour as well as an unbeaten performance at the Ryder Cup. Paul got off to a flying start with victory in China, which he duly followed up by winning 2 further events during a very lucrative summer. Gleneagles provided Casey with yet another victory in June as he claimed the Johnnie Walker Championship. The crowning glory of his season surely came at Wentworth, when pitted against the world’s elite, Casey stormed to victory at the HSBC World Matchplay Championship.

Paul agonisingly missed out on winning the Order of Merit as Ireland’s Padraig Harrington overhauled his Ryder Cup Team mate by the narrowest of margins at the end of season Volvo Masters.

In 2007, Paul made the perfect start to the new season by winning the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, making it his eighth European Tour title in his career. That victory signalled a perfect continuation from the previous year, when he produced some of the most consistent and spectacular golf of his career. Throughout the year, Paul continued to play well and narrowly missed on adding to his tournament victories at the HSBC and WGC Match play championships. Paul was one of only seven players to make the cut in all four Majors.

Paul started 2008 in good form by producing a Top 10 finish at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai. He followed that with another 10 top ten finishes, a strong showing at the Masters, the British Open, PGA Championship, Ryder Cup and a third at the BMW International Open.

2009 has been a remarkable year for Paul. He started the year off with a victory at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship for the second time in his career. He then came runner up at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. A month later he took his fantastic form into the Shell Houston Open where he won in a dramatic play off. In the same month, Paul returned to the UK to play the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and won the flagship European Tour tournament by a shot. Paul has now cemented his place at the top of the World Rankings in third place and is looking to build on his success even further this year.
